Since July, 2004, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (formerly the South Carolina Employment Security Commission) has been a part of a unique and exciting partnership that regularly focuses on the programs and success stories of South Carolina’s Workforce Development System.
Carolina Works is a monthly, thirty-minute television program that airs on the South Carolina Educational Television Network (SCETV) and its digital counterpart, The South Carolina Channel. Such partners as the US Department of Labor, SC Department of Commerce, SC Workforce Investment Areas, SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department, SC Technical College System, SC Department of Social Services, SC Commission for the Blind, SC Occupational Information System (SCOIS), SC Department of Consumer Affairs and others have contributed to the production and programming of the show.
The show is primarily produced by the public information and media offices of the SC Department of Employment and Workforce’s Communications Department located at SCDEW’s Central Office in Columbia, S.C. and is distributed throughout the state by SCETV and some commercial television outlets.
Our primary target audience consists of the SC Workforce Development System’s potential customer base: jobseekers and employers. This audience is interested in all the ways they can directly benefit from the partnership. The secondary target audience is any business or community organization that provides workforce and economic development services to the citizens of South Carolina.
Our goal is to inform and inspire South Carolinians to utilize the products and services available to them to succeed in the world of work.
